Open House at UMaine Hutchinson Center May 3- Registration for Summer and Fall Courses!

Belfast, Maine –A drop-in information session for the University of Maine summer and fall registration, scholarship information and academic advising will be held Wednesday, May 3 from 4 p.m.–7 p.m. at the Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Ave., Belfast.

The free public event is for anyone interested in pursuing a college degree, attending college classes, finishing a degree or enrolling in early college as a high school student.

Maine adults who want to return to college are invited to learn about the first steps to take toward completing their degrees. The Hutchinson Center provides free one-on-one academic advising and student support services on-site in Belfast.

Scholarships are available to Maine adults who began their college education years ago but were unable to complete a degree. As much as $4,000 per year in scholarships for up to four years is available through a University of Maine System Adult Degree Completion Scholarship Fund, which targets students that have been out of college three or more years. In addition, UMaine Hutchinson offers need-based scholarships to Hutchinson Center students each semester.

“Time and money shouldn’t be the reasons why mid-coast Maine adults have not completed their degree,” says Hutchinson Center Director Patricia Libby. The University of Maine offers flexible course delivery formats, such as online, video conferencing, ITV and live classes to meet the demands of adult learners.

UMaine’s Bachelor of University Studies provides an excellent opportunity to develop a program of study that encompasses student interests and makes the maximum use of existing transfer credits. The program is available in a part-time, online format to accommodate the needs of working adults and meet the unique needs of adults working toward degree completion.

Registration is open for summer 2017 classes offered through the Hutchinson Center. Over 300 undergraduate and graduate courses, both live and via distance education (online, ITV and video conferencing), are offered, with new sessions starting May 15 and running through July 17.
