Finish your college degree at UMaine Hutchinson Center- Enrolling for Fall Classes through September 1st.
Belfast, Maine — Maine adults who want to return to college are invited to learn about the first steps to take toward completing their degrees. The Hutchinson Center provides one-on-one academic advising and student support services on-site in Belfast.
Scholarships are available and dedicated to Maine adults who began their college education years ago, but were unable to complete degrees. As much as $4,000 per year in scholarships for up to four years is available through a new Adult Degree Completion Scholarship Fund.
“Time and money shouldn’t be the reasons why mid-coast Maine adults have not completed their degree,” said Hutchinson Center Director, Patricia Libby.
The University of Maine offers flexible course delivery formats such as online, video conferencing, ITV and live classes to meet the demands of adult learners.
The Bachelor of University Studies Program provides an excellent opportunity to develop a program of study that encompasses student interests and makes the maximum use of existing transfer credits. This program is available in a part-time, online format to accommodate the needs of working adults.
“Maine has over 200,000 adults with some college, but no degree,” explained UMS Chancellor James Page. “That is a significant stranded cost — both in terms of monies invested and opportunities lost. Our goal is to work with these folks to help them achieve their educational goals and move Maine forward.”
The faculty and staff of the Hutchinson Center, an outreach center of the University of Maine, are committed to supporting mid-coast adults in completing their degrees.
