Upcoming Belfast Regional Job Fair at UMaine Hutchinson Center on March 20

BELFAST, MAINE – A group of several Belfast- and Waldo County-area organizations are again collaborating to put on a regional job fair, with the goal of connecting job seekers with the many area businesses that are currently looking to hire both seasonal and permanent employees.

The City of Belfast, the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, the Belfast Creative Coalition, the Maine Department of Labor at the Rockland CareerCenter, Our Town Belfast, the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, and Workforce Solutions will be holding the 2018 Belfast Regional Job Fair on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast.

This is the second year for the Belfast Regional Job Fair.  Last year’s event saw approximately 40 employers and 450 job seekers participate.  “We expect to surpass both of those numbers at this year’s fair,” according to Belfast Economic Development Director Thomas Kittredge.  “This year’s job fair will be starting an hour earlier, at 9:00 am instead of 10:00 am, to better accommodate job seekers, and we fully expect that all 50 employer spots for the fair will be occupied.”

Additionally, groups such as the Maine Department of Labor at the Rockland CareerCenter and Workforce Solutions will be onsite to provide information to job seekers about upcoming interview readiness coaching, job training opportunities, and job placement assistance resources.

The University of Maine Hutchinson Center (https://hutchinsoncenter.umaine.edu/) is located at 80 Belmont Avenue (U.S. Route 3) in Belfast, approximately ¾ mile west from the intersection of Belmont Avenue and U.S. Route 1.

The 2018 Belfast Regional Job Fair is free for all employers and for all job seekers.  Employers are required to register for the fair, via e-mail, with David Grima at the Maine Department of Labor at the Rockland CareerCenter, at david.m.grima@maine.gov.  Employers are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible as space will be limited.  Please include the employer’s name, location, brief industry description, phone number, and a contact name in the body of the e-mail.  Employers may also direct any questions they may have regarding the fair to David Grima via e-mail.

Job seekers are not required to register for the fair, but they are encouraged to RSVP via Facebook at ‘2018 Belfast Regional Job Fair’ (www.facebook.com/events/1449293878513281).  As some employers may choose to conduct interviews at the fair, job seekers are also encouraged to be prepared by dressing appropriately and bringing resumes/relevant supporting materials.
