Early College at the Hutchinson Center
The University of Maine Early College Program encourages high school students to earn university credit by attending live courses at the Hutchinson Center, the Orono campus and online. Courses are offered tuition-free in a range of disciplines. including mathematics, sciences, the arts, humanities and social sciences.
This summer, the Early College Program is pleased to offer INT 188, Introduction to Integrated Science and Career Exploration. A cohort of 16 high school students will explore topics in environmental chemistry and environmental biology through classroom instruction, laboratory research and job shadowing at midcoast-area STEM-based businesses. The course will culminate with a symposium where students will have an opportunity to present career plans, share research outcomes and celebrate their course accomplishments.
