Jump-start Your Career!

Through a new partnership, students from midcoast Maine can now earn associate degrees or certificates from the University of Maine at Machias—UMaine’s coastal campus—right here in Belfast.

A certificate program is a series of courses providing in-depth study, giving you the most up-to-date skills and information you need to excel in your chosen field or transition to a new career.  Certificates provide a deep understanding that goes beyond what a single course or workshop might provide. You do not need to be enrolled in a full degree program to earn a certificate.

Five University of Maine at Machias certificate programs will be available through the Hutchinson Center starting in Fall 2021.

Audio/Media Production CertificateFor students interested in graphic design, media, public relations, digital marketing, and music/podcast production.
Entrepreneurship CertificateA flexible opportunity to acquire, develop and demonstrate business and risk management skills.

Geographic Information Systems Applications Certificates (including Advanced GIS)These certificates are designed for students majoring or working in related fields who wish to enhance their employment prospects or future graduate work with skills in geographic information systems (GIS).
Mental Health & Rehabilitation Technician/Community CertificateMHRT/C is a standardized training and certification process that prepares people to meet the basic requirements for employment in the field of adult and older adult mental health and rehabilitation services in the state of Maine.
