Aquaculture Systems Workshop Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)

The University of Maine will be offering a new aquaculture systems workshop at the Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research (CCAR) in Franklin starting January 25th.

Who: Professionals seeking the skills needed to work at a RAS facility, hatchery or
aquarium.
When: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturdays (1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/22, 2/29, 3/7, 3/28,
4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25)

Recirculating aquaculture is a technology for seafood farming that reuses water in the production. This team-taught workshop examines land based systems and their design including topics such as biofiltration, mechanical filtration, gas exchange and water
quality. A one-hour lecture is followed by a four-hour experiential lab.
