A coalition of several Belfast- and Midcoast-area organizations are again partnering to hold a regional job fair to connect job seekers with the many area businesses that are currently looking to hire both seasonal and permanent employees.
The City of Belfast, the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, the Belfast Creative Coalition, the Maine Department of Labor at the Rockland CareerCenter, Our Town Belfast, the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, and Workforce Solutions will be holding the 2019 Belfast Regional Job Fair on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019, from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm, at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast.
This is the third year for this event, and significant changes have been made to the job fair’s schedule. The start time for this year’s job fair has been moved to later in the day, to 3:30 pm, to make it possible for more job seekers, including students and those currently employed elsewhere, to attend. In addition, the total length of the fair has been shorted from five hours down to three hours, ending at 6:30 pm, to make it easier for employers to devote staff and participate.
According to Belfast Economic Development Director Thomas Kittredge, ”We are ahead of last year’s pace regarding employer participation, with nearly half of the 50 spots already filled. We fully expect that all 50 employer spots will be filled very soon, and our participating businesses will be providing a diverse array of employment opportunities to job seekers.”
The University of Maine Hutchinson Center (https://hutchinsoncenter.umaine.edu/) is located at 80 Belmont Avenue (U.S. Route 3) in Belfast, approximately three-quarters of a mile west from the intersection of Belmont Avenue and U.S. Route 1. The facility is handicap accessible and has free onsite parking.
The 2019 Belfast Regional Job Fair is free for all employers and free for all job seekers. Employers are required to register for the fair, via e-mail, with Mr. David Grima at the Maine Department of Labor at the Rockland CareerCenter, at david.m.grima@maine.gov. When registering, they are asked to include the employer’s name, location, brief industry description, phone number, and a contact name in the body of their e-mail. As space is limited, employers are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible. Employers may also direct any questions they may have regarding the job fair via e-mail to Mr. Grima.
