Authors to read from “Heliotrope French Heritage Women Create”.
Rhea Côté Robbins, founder and director of the Franco-American Women’s Institute (FAWI), will present readings with Betty-Ann Khoury-Burns, Mary Ellms, Melissa MacCrae and Trudy Chambers Price on Nov. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.
FAWI, located in Brewer and online, disseminates information about the contributions of French heritage women’s lives.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Franco-American Women’s Institute, author Côté Robbins published “Heliotrope French Heritage Women Create,” an anthology of written works and visual arts. The anthology presents a snapshot of French heritage women’s lives as they exist today, and offers present and future generations a vivid compilation of voices and visuals to express modern-day, French heritage women and their creative works. Annie Proulx is featured, as well as 130 additional women of French heritage.
Côté Robbins’ writing and research has appeared in many publications. She is currently working on research to expand the definition of French heritage women and their “hidden contributions.” More information is online: fawi.net.
