This program is co-sponsored by Broadreach Family and Community Services’ Early Childhood Program and the University of Maine Hutchinson Center and is open to the public. Broadreach was recently awarded an exciting grant from the Davis Foundation entitled Fostering Reading Readiness through Place Based Nature Education This grant, designed to provide a series of rigorous professional development opportunities to early childhood educators, will give teachers a deeper understanding of the rationale, methods and therapeutic value of implementing nature based programming for children of all abilities. It is also expressly intended to help early educators successfully locate and carry early language and literacy learning experiences into natural settings.
